Four First-Place Finishes Highlight Men's Track Outdoor Opener

WEST CHESTER, Pa.
- West Chester University's men's track & field squad produced four event winners in the team's first outdoor track & field meet at Farrell Stadium on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon.

West Chester placed 16 athletes in the top 8 across the events Saturday. Along with the four first-place ribbons, the Golden Rams witnessed one runner up and one third place trophy as well.

Craig Espenshade won the 400m in a time of 48.78 seconds. He also finished eighth in the 200m (22.81). Matt Langdale won the 1500m in a time of 4:05.28 and placed fifth in the 800m (1:58.00).

Kyle Miller won the pole vault, clearing 13 feet, 7 1/4 inches while Shawn Smith won the long jump, leaping 22-9 3/4. Tyler Real was runner up in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.81. Smith also finished third in the 100m in a time of 11.23 seconds.

Jacob Perry finished behind Langdale in the 1500m in sixth place with a time of 4:12.28. Mike Malejko was fifth in the 5000m (16:39.25).

Outside of Real's runner-up performance in the 110m hurdles, Ryan Karli finished sixth (16.14) and Eric Akins seventh (16.46).

Andrew Furst placed fifth in the high jump, clearing 6-0 3/4. Zach Sharrah and Kevin Bock each placed seventh and eighth behind Miller in the pole vault.
