2010 PSAC Women's Basketball Tournament Central
ERIE, Pa. - West Chester University's women's basketball team heads West this weekend for the 2010 PSAC Women's Basketball Tournament Semifinals. It marks the third straight year that the Golden Rams' ladies have reached the conference final four.
West Chester (19-9) takes on California (Pa.) Friday night at 5:30 p.m. at Gannon University's Hammermill Center. All the action can be heard live on the school's student radio station 91.7 WCUR-FM, or over the internet on Red Zone Media (
www.redzonemedia.com).
The other semifinal pits top-seeded, No. 1-ranked and host Gannon (31-0) against Kutztown (19-9), 30 minutes following the conclusion of the WCU-Cal contest. The 2010 PSAC Women's Basketball Championship Game will take place Saturday, March 6 at 7 p.m.
The Golden Rams are 0-3 this winter against the other three schools in the semifinals. West Chester dropped both of its regular-season meetings with Kutztown (76-56; 65-56) while falling to Cal (77-65) on the road just after the new year. West Chester did not play Gannon.
The two quarterfinal matchups from the Eastern Division each took overtime to determine a winner with both West Chester and Kutztown avenging a pair of regular-season defeats to advance. West Chester advanced to the PSAC semifinals by virtue of its 83-77 double-overtime victory over Millersville on Tuesday night at Pucillo Gym. Kutztown defeated Bloomsburg, 74-67 in overtime while Gannon topped Edinboro, 81-67, and Cal defeated Indiana (Pa.), 72-49 in a rematch of the previous three PSAC Championship games.
West Chester and Cal are the only two repeat conference final four participants from last season's semifinals hosted by the Golden Rams.
