Women’s Track & Field Shows A Strong Outing At Day Two Of The WCU Invitational

WEST CHESTER, Pa.
– West Chester University’s women’s track and field team recorded four first-place finishes at day two of the WCU Invitational at John A. Farrell Stadium on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon.

Katie Butler won the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.82 seconds. Following behind Butler was Brigid Gallagher in second place with a time of 16.67. Butler also won the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 2 ½ inches. Brigid Harron was second (5-0 ½), and Andrea Lengal was fourth, 4-6 ¾.

Nicole Reaves and Miriam Hughes tied for second place in the long jump with leaps of 16-1 each. Dietrich was sixth (15-10 ½). Jess Joseph won the 3000m in a time of 10:57.49

Lindsay Nygren won the 400m hurdles in 1:07.36. Behind Nygren in the 400m hurdles was Danielle Howell in second place (1:08.08), Brigid Gallagher in third place (1:08.13) and Melinda Wentz in fourth place (1:09.88). Wentz finished first in the women’s heptathlon with 4,039 points.

Lyndsey Ratasiewicz was third in the 800m (2:23.27). Mary Gawbill finished fourth behind Ratasiewicz in the 800m in a time of 2:24.60. Kim McManus was fifth (2:28.29) and Leigh Gumlock-Silfies finished seventh (2:29.95).

The 4x400m relay clocked a time of 4:07.19, finishing second. The team consisted of Gallagher, Howell, Nygren, and Gawbill.
