PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - West Chester University's baseball squad advanced to the championship game of the 10th annual Bill Giles Classic for the third consecutive season and will face University of the Sciences (Phila.) (USP) on Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. at Citizen's Bank Park.
Tickets will be $5 and can be purchased at our first base gate ticketing windows. Parking is available in the Phillies “P” lot, which is located on Darien Street, close to the Darien Street and Pattison Avenue intersection.
West Chester (31-9) defeated Wilmington (Del.), 7-6 in 12 innings on Saturday, to advance to the championship game. USP (4-28) swept a doubleheader from Philadelphia University on Sunday afternoon to stamp its ticket to the Bill Giles Classic championship game.
Tuesday's tilt is a rematch of the 2008 championship game in which West Chester won, 7-6. The two schools have met twice this season already with the Golden Rams coming out on top on both occasions, 13-4 and 8-2.
West Chester is in search of its seventh Bill Giles Classic title. The Golden Rams have won the Division II tuornament six times in the past nine years, including the last two consecutively. The Liberty Classic, championship game, a Division I tournament, will follow the Bill Giles Classic at 7 p.m.
