TOWSON, Md. - West Chester University dropped its non-conference field hockey match at Towson, 3-2, in overtime Friday night.
West Chester (3-3) scored twice in the first 14 minutes of the game. However, Towson (4-3) answered back with a pair of goals in the next four minutes to knot the contest at 2-2. That is how things stood until five minutes into the first overtime period when Katie DeFilippo notched her second tally of the night at the 4:50 mark.
Gabby Panasiewicz (1-2) took the loss in the cage for the Golden Rams. She played the second half and overtime, registering three saves and allowing the game-winner in OT. Kristin Arnold started the contest and made two saves while allowing two goals.
Alisha Moran opened up the wild scoring early in the game, beating Towson goalkeeper Whitney Clugston from 10 yards out with her third goal of the season. Kate Zunski then doubled the visitor's lead three minutes later with her second of the year. Both goals were unassisted.
DeFilippo posted her first goal of the game in the 17th minute, and Jamie Salvador scored one minute later to tie the game.
West Chester returns home on Sunday for a noon match against Penn State.
