Box Score

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.
- West Chester University women’s tennis squad dropped a crossover match against Slippery Rock Saturday, 5-4, Saturday morning.

West Chester (2-2) dropped its second match of the weekend in its trip out west to play PSAC opponents California (Pa.) and Slippery Rock.

Saturday’s tilt came down to No. 4 singles where Alex Santoro captured the first set, 6-4. However, The Rock’s Janelle Klantz rebounded for consecutive 6-4 wins in the second and third sets to claim the slimmest of margins victory for the hosts.

The Golden Rams received two victories in the doubles competition. Ali Fetter and Alex Santoro swept Slippery Rock, 8-3, at No. 2 doubles while Nikky Paller and Lauren Igo pulled out an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles. West Chester held a 2-1 advantage heading into the singles competition. But, Slippery Rock took the top four singles spots to pull out the come-from-behind win.

Winning in the singles for West Chester was Fetter (6-0, 6-1) and Teresa Grasso (6-0, 6-2). Luisi Souto both won her first match at No. 2 singles. But it wasn’t enough to stave off Slippery Rock’s comeback.

West Chester will be back in action Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Gwynedd-Mercy.
