West Chester Blanks Lehigh, 3-0

BETHLEHEM, Pa.
- Three different goal scorers helped visiting West Chester to a 3-0 shutout over host Lehigh in a non-league field hockey contest Friday afternoon.

West Chester (3-0) posted its second shutout in its first three games, using the platooning system of goalkeepers. Red-shirt freshman Kristen Arnold (2-0) made four saves in the first half, backstopping the Golden Rams to a 2-0 lead before the break. Sophomore Gabby Panasiewicz made one stop in the second half to complete the shutout.

Molly Herlihy opened the scoring for the Golden Rams with her first career goal just three minutes into the game. She finished off a cross from Alisha Moran to give the visitors an early lead. Alyssa Gallen then doubled the Rams' lead late in the first half off an assist from Nicole Fiorilla.

In the second half, Michele Schrift put the game away with the only tally in the final 35 minutes.

West Chester will be back in action next Friday when the Golden Rams host the Vonnie Gros Classic. West Chester takes on Columbia at 6:30 p.m. in the second game of the evening. North Carolina plays Villanova in the first game at 4 p.m.

Sunday, the Vonnie Gros Classic concludes with Villanova taking on Columbia right after West Chester and North Carolina clash at 12 p.m.
