CORTLAND, N.Y. – West Chester University dropped a heartbreaking dual gymnastics meet on the road in Upstate New York as host SUNY Cortland defeated the Golden Rams, 184.35-183.775 in a non-league women’s gymnastics meet Saturday afternoon.
West Chester’s Amber Miller won the balance beam with a 9.725. Sophomore Kaley LaFleur finished second on both beam (9.55) and floor exercise (9.475), and was the best of the Golden Rams’ three all-arounders with a second-place score of 37.25.
Junior Alli Aquila turned in three top-five finishes for West Chester. She was third on floor exercise (9.40) and fifth on both vault (9.45) and balance beam (9.275). In addition, Paige Griffin finished third on uneven bars (9.225) and Emily Seigel was fourth on balance beam (9.375).
West Chester returns home next Saturday for Alumni Day at Sturzebecker HSC. The Golden Rams will host a tri-meet with SUNY Brockport and Rhode Island College visiting Southeastern Pa.
