CLARION, Pa. – Clarion’s Jamar Harrison scored a game-high 33 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the host Golden Eagles to a convincing 98-72 victory over visiting West Chester University in a PSAC men’s basketball crossover Monday evening inside Tippin Gym.
West Chester (7-2) saw its six-game winning streak come to a close at the hands of unbeaten Clarion (8-0). The Golden Eagles were among others receiving votes in the most recent National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II poll released before the holiday break.
Senior Eli Daniel led all Golden Rams with 17 points and five assists, before fouling out. Four West Chester players were in double figures Monday. Lance McDowell scored 11 points, before fouling out as well. Khalif Foster added 12 points off the bench while Kehinde Roberts chipped in 11 in his first action of the season.
Clarion was outstanding from the foul line all night long, hitting 29 of 35 attempts (82.9 percent). Three Golden Rams fouled out of the game. Miguel Bocachica scored eight points before exiting.
Shannon Givens scored nine points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out five assists for a solid all-around effort.
Harrison shot 11 of 18 from the floor and 10-for-11 from the charity stripe to power his monster night for the Golden Eagles. He also blocked two shots.
West Chester will be back in action Tuesday with another western crossover tilt at Gannon. Tip is set for 8 p.m.
