Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - No. 2 Bloomsburg scored 55 unanswered points to come from behind and defeat West Chester, 55-42, in front of a Homecoming crowd of 6,502 at John A. Farrell Stadium on a cloudy and overcast Saturday afternoon.

West Chester (4-4, 3-2 PSAC East) jumped out to a 35-0 lead by the early second quarter, before Bloomsburg (8-0, 5-0) began its comeback. The 35-point deficit was the largest deficit overcome by a team in Division II history and matched the Division I FBS mark set by Michigan State in a game against Northwestern on Oct. 21, 2006.

The Golden Rams scored 21 points in the first quarter and added another 14 points in the second quarter. However, Bloomsburg tallied 21 points in the second quarter and added another 24 points in the third to take a 45-35 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Senior FB Brian McDermott scored on a pair of 1-yard runs in the opening quarter, and Rondell White then plunged in from 1-yard out to give the Rams a 21-0 advantage. Quarterback Matt Carroll ran in from four yards out, and White added a 16-yard jaunt to stake the hosts to a 35-0 lead.

Bloomsburg then scored three touchdowns in 6:45 to pull to within 35-21 by halftime. By the time the dust had settled in the fourth quarter, the Huskies had scored 55 points in 32 minutes from the 6:45 mark of the second quarter to their final TD with 4:46 remaining in the game. Tim Keyser caught a 6-yard TD pass from Sean McCartney late in the fourth quarter, but the damage was already done.

Franklyn Quiteh rushed for 190 yards and two TDs while Eddie Mateo rushed for 99 yards for Bloomsburg.

White led West Chester with 53 yards rushing. Carroll was 14-for-22 for 200 yards. However, he threw a pair of interceptions for the Golden Rams.

Mike Labor registered nine tackles, including half of a sack, while also registering three pass breakups and a pair of QB hurries. Carl Barnes and Ronell Williams each posted eight tackles for the Rams as well.

West Chester hosts Kutztown next Saturday at 1 p.m. at John A. Farrell Stadium on Military Appreciation Day.
