EDINBORO, Pa. – Jaleel Mack scored a career-high 25 points off the bench, but host Edinboro held on for a 92-86 men’s basketball victory over visiting West Chester at McComb Fieldhouse Friday evening.
Carl Johnson reached double figures in the scoring column for the third straight contest with a career-high 16 points of his own. However, the Golden Rams went ice cold from the field down the stretch, hitting just one of nine attempts with three of those blocked by the Fighting Scots in the final 92 seconds of the game.
West Chester had closed the deficit to three (86-83) with 1:52 remaining, before their shots stopped falling. Conversely, Scott Moore scored four points and grabbed a crucial rebound in the final 47 seconds to help Edinboro keep its visitor’s at bay.
Freshman Corey Blake scored 14 points, all of them coming in the second half, while Jon Breeden added 12 to pace the Golden Rams.
Jay Fletcher and Clint Nicholson each posted a game-high 19 points to lead five different Fighting Scots in double figures. Nicholson was 4-for-7 from beyond the 3-point arc.
West Chester continues its weekend crossover road trip with the Western Division with a 4 p.m. tip-off at Lock Haven on Saturday.
