WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University swept all four events, breaking the school record on the uneven bars in the process, in a 185.450-168.750 victory over visiting Wilson College in a non-league women's gymnastics meet inside Sturzebecker HSC Friday evening.
The Golden Rams swept the top five places on the bars with Karen Laskaris leading the way with a 9.5. Paige Griffin was second with a score of 9.4, Emily Siegel third (9.325), Alli Aquila fourth (9.3) and Stephanie Plaugher fifth (9.1). West Chester scored a 46.625 to break the old mark.
Aquila was the all-around winner Friday evening with a combined score of 37.525. Griffin was second with a 36.65. Aquila also won the balance beam with a score of 9.45. Siegel and teammate Alison Mitrosky were tied for second with a 9.35 each. Mitrosky, the lone senior on the squad, was honored on Senior Night in a brief ceremony before the meet.
West Chester also swept all five top spots on the floor exercise. Rachel Pearson won the event with a 9.55. Aquila was second with a 9.475 and Griffin was third with a 9.425. Erin Simon and Siegel were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Melissa Voskian won the individual title on the vault with a 9.35. West Chester claimed the top six spots in that event. Aquila was runner-up with a 9.3. Griffin scored a 9.15 and Simon a 9.125.
The Golden Rams are off until March 5 when they travel to Rutgers University for a quad meet.
