WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Carl Johnson scored a team-high 15 points off the bench to lead host West Chester to a 64-51 upset over visiting Mansfield in a PSAC East men's basketball showdown inside Hollinger Field House.
West Chester (12-8, 3-5 PSAC East) completed the season sweep over second-place Mansfield (13-7, 5-3) with the win on its home court.
West Chester's duo from Academy of New Church High School in Philadelphia, Shannon Givens and Khalif Foster, each posted 12 points. Givens contributed eight rebounds and five steals to the cause as well. Kehinde Roberts posted 11 points for the Golden Rams to round out four players in double figures.
A 3-pointer from Johnson six minutes into the game put the Golden Rams on top for good, 11-10. That was part of a 16-5 run midway through the half that gave the hosts a 22-14 advantage.
West Chester travels to first-place Kutztown on Wednesday for another pivotal PSAC East matchup with the Golden Bears. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
