WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - An error in the top of the 10th inning allowed the door for the winning run as No. 17 Slippery Rock defeated No. 12 West Chester, 3-2, Monday afternoon at the 3rd Annual Russmatt Central Florida Invitational.
West Chester (3-1) suffered its first loss of the season while Slippery Rock (6-4) ended a personal four-game losing streak with the win.
Matt Zielinski started the game and pitched four shutout innings. He allowed one hit, walked three and struck out five. Jordan Lehman (0-1) came on in relief and was the hard-luck loser. He went the rest of the way, surrendering three runs.
West Chester takes on Grand Valley State in a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m.
