West Chester Baseball Splits With East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Anthony Clemens picked up a win against his former teammates to help West Chester University to a split of its PSAC East doubleheader at Mitterling Field Sunday afternoon. The Rams dropped the opener, 7-5, before taking the nightcap, 4-3.

West Chester (15-17, 6-10 PSAC East) salvaged the final game of the four-game series with East Stroudsburg (20-7, 6-4) with the win.

Clemens (3-2) started and pitched the first five innings of game two, allowing three runs, only one of them earned, on four hits and striking out six. Conor Kerins (1) tossed the final two innings for his first save of the season.

Joe Wendle went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI. He hit a two-run single in the third inning that gave the Golden Rams a 3-1 lead. West Chester added another run in the fourth, before ESU scored once each in the fourth and sixth.

East Stroudsburg scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning of game one to take an early lead. West Chester starter Jordan Lehman (2-4) lasted two innings, surrendering six runs on six hits. John Barr came on in relief and pitched four innings of no-hit ball, allowing just one unearned run.

Brandon Wolfe went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Chris Pula went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

West Chester faces Wilmington on Tuesday at Citizens Bank Park in the championship game of the Bill Giles Classic.
