Women's Tennis Moves Past Cheyney, 9-0

WEST CHESTER, Pa.
- Host West Chester University shutout visiting cross-town rival Cheyney, 9-0, in the PSAC East women's tennis finale for both sides.

West Chester (13-8, 5-1 PSAC East) finishes its conference regular season with the best league record in school history. The Golden Rams finish in second place, just one game behind undefeated Bloomsburg. The Rams will host their first postseason tennis match on Monday at 3 p.m. when they welcome third-place East Stroudsburg to South Campus.

West Chester defeated East Stroudsburg, 7-2, earlier this season at home. The Golden Rams reached the postseason one year ago for the first time in school history. Now, just one year later, they are hosting their first playoff match.

A win on Monday would advance West Chester to the conference semifinals at Bloomsburg on Thursday, April 21.

West Chester dispatched Cheyney on Thursday winning all five singles matches in straight sets by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores. Sixth singles was forfeited by the Wolves. The Golden Rams won first doubles, 8-1, surrendering the only game of the match to the Wolves. Second doubles was an 8-0 winner. Third doubles was forfeited as well.

West Chester will be back in action on Friday on the road at Georgian Court.
