SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Neil Gallagher converted a penalty kick for West Chester's lone goal on the afternoon as the Golden Rams dropped a 2-1 PSAC men's soccer match at Slippery Rock Saturday morning.
West Chester (1-3-0, 0-2-0 PSAC) had an excellent opportunity to tie the game when Brett Snyder's header off a corner kick was saved by The Rock's (2-1-0, 1-0-0) goalkeeper to preserve the win for the hosts.
Gallagher's penalty kick came in the 20th minute and tied the contest at 1-apiece. However, Slippery Rock's Kenneth Fulz put the hosts on top for good in the 64th minute converting a cross from Chris Davis and depositing the ball in the lower left corner.
West Chester held a slight edge in shots (10-8) while corner kick opportunities were equal at three each. The Golden Rams' Kevin Marron (1-3-0) made three saves in goal in the loss.
