Men's Basketball Tops Shippensburg, 78-74

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Lance McDowell finished with 19 points, and Corey Blake added 15 points and a team-high nine rebounds to lead host West Chester to a 78-74 victory over visiting Shippensburg in a PSAC men's basketball contest inside Hollinger Field House Wednesday evening.

West Chester (7-8, 4-7) ended its season-long four-game slide and jumped right back into the postseason picture with the win. Shippensburg (6-11, 3-8) dropped the league tilt, despite shooting 53 percent from the field (25-for-47) and outrebounding West Chester by a 40-30 margin.

The Golden Rams made up the difference at the foul line, connecting on 25 of 30 attempts for an 83.3 percentage while the Raiders made just 19 of their 30 tries (63.3 percent). West Chester also scored 24 points off 17 Shippensburg turnovers while the Rams turned the ball over themselves a season-low five times.

Carl Johnson finished with 16 points and six assists while Jaleel Mack put up 14 points. Both Johnson and McDowell went 7-for-8 from the foul line while Blake was a perfect 5-for-5.

West Chester entertains division-leading Bloomsburg on Saturday at Hollinger in a 3 p.m. PSAC tilt.
