LEWISBURG, Pa. – Melanie Ruff qualified for the PSAC Championships next month to highlight West Chester University’s women’s performance at the 14th Annual Bucknell Open & Multi late Friday night inside Gerhard Fieldhouse on the campus of Bucknell University.
Ruff won her heat in the preliminary round with a time of 26.28 seconds to qualify for Saturday’s final. Her time was the second fastest among all nine heats and was the ninth-best mark in the PSAC this season. It also was good enough to qualify her for the conference meet in February, where she will also be competing in the 60-meter dash.
Ruff, who set the school record in the 200m last season, now holds the seventh-best mark in school history with her 26.28 time Friday night.
Nicole Del Grasso placed 14th in the 5000m in a time of 19:53.98. She placed second in her section final, right ahead of teammate Brittany Boyer, who clocked a time of 19:57.45. Kim McManus placed 18th overall in a time of 20:25.36.
West Chester's women's track & field squad heads back up to Bucknell University Saturday for the final day of competition at the 14th annual Bucknell Open & Multi.
