WEST CHESTER, Pa.
- West Chester University’s men’s soccer team finished off an impressive, 3-1, win over Bloomsburg this afternoon at the South Campus soccer fields.

West Chester (6-7-2, 5-2-1 PSAC) clinched a postseason bid in the PSAC Tournament and took over sole possession of third place with the victory Saturday over Bloomsburg. The Golden Rams travel to second-place Millersville on Saturday in the regular-season finale.

Kevin McCann opened the scoring early in the first half with his team-leading fourth goal of the season assisted by Conor Malarney. The Golden Rams struck again late in the first half with a goal from Alex Caplan, which was made possible with a precise pass from Neil Gallagher.

Bloomsburg started the second half strong with a goal coming from Fran Miller on a one-on-one dual with West Chester’s goalkeeper, Garrett Bleiler. In a frantic remaining twenty minutes that had Bleiler making key saves, the Golden Rams pulled away with a game-clinching goal from Alex Badulak on a breakaway.

The win puts the Golden Rams in perfect position to grab a PSAC playoff spot. This year the top six teams qualify for the playoffs with the two best teams holding a bye for the first round. West Chester will make its first PSAC Tournament appearance since 2007. All that remains to be determined is whether or not that first playoff game will be at home.

West Chester’s five wins in league play is the most by the Golden Rams since they won five games in 2008. Their six wins overall ties their win total from both 2010 and 2009.

Up next, the Golden Rams take on Felician at Farrell Stadium, Monday night at 7:30 p.m. on Senior Night.
