Rams Men Continue To Roll; Five Straight Now, 71-63

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - West Chester University won its fifth straight and eight of its last nine with a 71-63 victory over host Shippensburg University in a PSAC men's basketball Eastern Division showdown inside Heiges Field House Wednesday evening.

West Chester (14-9, 11-8 PSAC) received 17 points from Lance McDowell and 13 each from Jon Breeden and Carl Johnson. Shippensburg dropped to 9-16 overall and 6-13 in conference play. With the win, the Golden Rams currently hold the longest current winning streak in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. The Rams remain one game back of East Stroudsburg and Kutztown in the league standings. Bloomsburg maintained its one-game lead in the East over both the Warriors and the Bears.

West Chester never trailed in the contest, and the game was tied just once at 2-2 in the early going. The Golden Rams led by as many as 12 points on two separate occasions. McDowell's 17 points on Wednesday leaves him with 1,491 career points in his four-year college basketball career, including his two seasons at Delaware Tech.
 
Shippensburg was led by Will Royal's 18 points and Craig Van Scyoc's 16.

The Golden Rams host East Stroudsburg on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. inside Hollinger Field House on Senior Day. West Chester will honor seniors Khalif Foster and Lance McDowell in a brief ceremony before their game with the Warriors.
