Schuler Takes First In All-Around; WCU Second At Tri-Meet

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Freshman gymnast Stephanie Schuler won the all-around competition to lead West Chester University’s women’s gymnastics squad to a second-place showing at a non-league tri-meet held on the campus of Southern Connecticut State University Sunday afternoon.
 
West Chester compiled 185.375 points, falling to ECAC rival Southern Connecticut State, which posted a 187.525. Springfield College was third with 181.875.
 
Schuler amassed an all-around score of 37.875, finishing first on the uneven bars, second on the vault and fourth on the balance beam. Schuler scored a 9.6 on the bars to capture that event. Her 9.575 was good for second on the vault, and her 9.55 on the beam was good for fourth.
 
Kaley LaFleur scored a 9.6 on the balance beam. She finished third overall. Paige Griffin placed fourth on the bars with a 9.425. Allie Aquila scored a 9.425 on the vault to place fourth as well.
 
West Chester returns home on Friday, Feb. 24 for its Senior Night quad meet. Ursinus, Rhode Island College and Wilson College will be in town to help the Golden Rams celebrate.
