Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

LAKELAND, Fla. – Joe Wendle went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run in game one while Dave Stieg tossed a complete-game, two-hitter in the nightcap to lead West Chester to a doubleheader sweep over Indianapolis in Lakeland Monday afternoon.

West Chester (7-0) increased it’s season-opening win streak under first-year head coach Jad Prachniak to seven games with the sweep.

Wendle hit a three-run homer, his fourth of the season, in the bottom of the first and knocked in two more runs with a pair of sacrifice flies to power the Golden Rams to an 11-2 win in the opener Monday. In the nightcap, he went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and two RBI.

John Barr (1-0) picked up the win in the opener. He scattered six hits over five innings, allowing two runs while walking three and striking out three. Alec Schwartz made his collegiate debut on the mound, throwing the final two scoreless frames and surrendering a pair of hits.

Chris Pula, Josh Heyne and Matt Kirchner each went 2-for-3 as the Rams rapped out 13 hits. Eight of the nine batters in the order came away with a hit in game two.

West Chester scored three runs in the fifth and plated two more in the sixth to break open a 2-1 ballgame. Wendle hit a two-run triple, following a RBI bunt single by Jack Provine in the fifth that also scored a run. Provine’s hit chased starter Brett Collins (0-1). Wendle then greeted left-handed reliever Gavin Petrea with his three-bagger that scored two runs.

Heyne hit a RBI double and Jordan Wlodarczyk a run-scoring single in the sixth.

Stieg (1-0) faced 25 batters in the seven-inning affair to earn his first win of the season.

Both Joe Wendle and Mike Raimo have reached base safely in all seven games to this point in the season.

West Chester faces Ohio Dominican Tuesday at 1 p.m. as the Rams continue their spring trip in the Sunshine State.
