WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Alex Santoro picked up a straight-set 6-1, 6-0 victory over East Stroudsburg’s Becky Lausch at third singles to clinch a 6-3 victory for West Chester’s women’s tennis squad in the PSAC East opener for both schools Tuesday afternoon.
West Chester (6-6, 1-0 PSAC East) took first and second doubles and held a 2-1 advantage over East Stroudsburg (1-12, 0-1) heading into the singles play.
Ali Fetter topped Allison Bean, 6-2, 6-0 at second singles, and Nikki Paller topped Liz Longenhagen, 6-1, 6-1 at fourth singles for the Golden Rams. Hailey Wissinger was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at fifth singles for West Chester’s other victory.
Brittany Counts and Fetter teamed up for an 8-3 win at first doubles while Paller and Wissinger were 8-1 winners at second doubles.
West Chester travels to Bloomsburg on Saturday for another PSAC league match against the perennial powerhouse Huskies.
