SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – West Chester University’s women’s gymnastics squad broke the school’s record on the uneven bars en route to a dual match victory over host Springfield College Sunday afternoon, 185.025-183.025.
Senior Amber Miller scored a 9.775 on the balance beam, finishing just ahead of teammates Kaley LaFleur (9.750) and Emily Siegel (9.5), as the Golden Rams swept the top three spots in that event.
On bars, West Chester set a new school mark with a 47.6 composite score. Stephanie Schuler won the event with a score of 9.625 while teammate Alli Aquila was third with a 9.55. Karen Laskaris was fourth with a 9.5. Aquila finished third on the floor exercise with a 9.475 while Paige Griffin was just ahead of her in second with a score of 9.55.
It marked the third time this year that West Chester eclipsed 189 points in a meet. The Golden Rams have made steady progress over the course of the season as they prepare for the ECAC Championships later this month.
West Chester concludes its regular-season schedule next weekend with a tri-meet at Rutgers, along with Towson University.
