BUTLER, Pa. - West Chester University's baseball team begins its quest for a conference championship on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. when the Golden Rams take on Slippery Rock University in the first round of the double-elimination PSAC Tournament at Pullman Park.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $2 for children. Students from PSAC member institutions are admitted free with valid school I.D. No complimentary tickets will be available. Spectators will need to pay to park.
West Chester (33-9) is making its return to the conference tournament following a one-year hiatus as the No. 1 seed out of the Eastern Division. The Golden Rams have won six PSAC baseball titles, most recently in 2009 when they defeated Mercyhurst in the championship game in Lancaster, Pa. Slippery Rock enters the postseason with a record of 24-23-1 overall and are the No. 4 seed out of the Western Division. The Golden Rams defeated The Rock down south by a score of 6-5 on March 14.
The last time these two schools met in the postseason, Slippery Rock eliminated West Chester from the 2010 PSAC Tournament by virtue of a 9-5 verdict at Point Stadium in Johnstown, Pa. The Golden Rams had taken the tournament opener from The Rock, 7-6, two years ago. However, SRU exacted revenge the following day and sent WCU home prematurely.
