Box Score WEST LAWN, Pa. – West Chester scored five runs in the bottom of the first and then turned the game over to sophomore right-hander Fred Breidenbach as the Golden Rams cruised to a 9-5 victory over Seton Hill in an NCAA Atlantic Regional contest at Owls Field at Ted Palka Park Saturday night.
With the win, West Chester (41-10) advances into the Atlantic Region championship game on Sunday against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference rival Kutztown University at 1 p.m. Kutztown must beat West Chester twice on Sunday to claim the regional title while just one win by the Golden Rams sends them to the Division II College World Series in Cary, N.C., May 26 to June 2.
West Chester sent 10 men to the plate in the first, and Seton Hill starter Greg Daviault was lifted without retiring a batter. The first three hitters in West Chester’s order combined to go 6-for-12 with five runs scored. Chris Pula (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington) and Justin Lamborn (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) each had three RBI.
Breidenbach (8-2) pitched six innings, allowing only one earned run, to pick up the win on the mound.
