Box Score MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - West Chester University dropped a heart-breaking 3-1 decision in sets to Franklin Pierce College in its opening match of the Marauder Clash hosted by Millersville University Friday afternoon.
West Chester fell by scores of 23-25, 19-25, 25-23 and 24-26 as only one of the four sets was decided by more than the minimum two points. The Golden Rams had their opportunities in each of the three sets in which they lost.
Senior Lexi Kegerise and sophomore Julia O'Brien each posted 10 kills offensively to pace West Chester's attack. Morgan Litak and Mary Faust each recorded 10 digs, while Faust added a team-high 14 assists. Freshman Mandy Flynn notched 13 assists in her first college match.
Cara Reese registered a pair of solo blocks for the Golden Rams as well.
West Chester takes on St. Augustine's at 7 p.m. with an opportunity to at least split its season-opening matches at the Marauder Clash.
