Top-Ranked West Chester Shuts Down No. 10 ESU, 3-0

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.
- Top-ranked West Chester University shut out host and 10th-ranked East Stroudsburg University, 3-0, in a PSAC East field hockey match at Whitenight Field Tuesday afternoon.

West Chester (7-1, 4-0 PSAC East) raised its winning streak to six straight with the win while East Stroudsburg (3-6, 0-4) is still in search of its first league win.

Kayla Gluchowski, Megan Callanan and Michele Schrift each scored for the Golden Rams. Gluchowski got things started in the 10th minute with her sixth goal of the year. The assist went to Schrift. Callanan then potted her third of the season five minutes later unassisted to put the visitors up, 2-0.

Schrift batted in a ball right out of the air in the 49th minute to give West Chester a three-goal lead. It was the fifth straight game in which the senior midfielder has scored a goal, and it was her team-leading eighth tally of the season.

Goalkeeper Kristin Arnold made five saves in the cage for West Chester, including a two-on-one break by ESU. Warriors keeper Sarah Dobrosky made 17 saves. West Chester pestered her with 30 shots on the afternoon and took 15 penalty corners.

West Chester travels to Mercyhurst on Friday and continues on to Slippery Rock Saturday as the Golden Rams continue their three-game road swing.
