LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Senior Carl Johnson scored 17 points, as visiting West Chester put five players in double figures en route to an 84-74 victory over host Lock Haven in a PSAC men's basketball game inside Thomas Fieldhouse Saturday night.

West Chester (7-4, 5-2 PSAC) led by as many as 21 points early in the second half. However, Lock Haven (5-5, 3-4) could not complete the comeback bid late in the game, despite 33 points and 14 rebounds from Wali Hepburn.

The Golden Rams shot 50 percent from the field in the first half (19-for-38) while firing off nearly twice as many shots at the basket. Head coach Damien Blair’s defense limited the Bald Eagles to just 8-for-20 shooting in the first frame, which sparked West Chester to a 47-28 lead by halftime.

The Golden Rams, who led the entire game, eventually bulged their lead to 21 points in the early going of the second half. However, the Bald Eagles slowly chipped away at West Chester’s lead, whittling it down to as low as nine points in the final minute of the game.

Jon Breeden and Shannon Givens each scored 13 points for West Chester while Jaleel Mack and Corey Blake each added 10 apiece.

West Chester returns home on Friday for a PSAC West crossover game against Mercyhurst inside Hollinger Field House at 7:30 p.m.
