Three Different Goal Scorers Lift West Chester to 3-2 Victory

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Three different players scored in the first half for West Chester, and the hosts held on for a 3-2 victory over visiting Philadelphia University on a day that West Chester University dedicated its new turf playing surface as Rockwell Field in memory of John A. "Jack" Rockwell (WCU '36).
 
West Chester (9-3-2) got goals from Miguel Ross, Alex Badulak and John Gabel in the first 45 minutes to stake the hosts to a 3-0 lead by halftime.
 
Philadelphia University (9-5-1) scored twice in the second half and had a third goal disallowed to battle back in the final 45. West Chester also missed a pair of penalty kicks, one in each half.
 
Phil Horan made three saves in goal for the Golden Rams to improve to 2-0-1 on the year. He saw his 265-minute scoreless streak come to a close. He had not allowed a goal since the first half of the season opener.
 
West Chester's overall streak of 555 consecutive scoreless minutes also came to a close in the second half. Philadelphia University was the first school to score on the Golden Rams, who ran their current winning streak to six straight games. West Chester carries a consecutive scoreless minutes streak of over 600 minutes within conference play into this weekend's final two PSAC tilts of the regular season.
 
West Chester travels to California, Pa., to take on the Vulcans Friday, Oct. 25 at 3 p.m., before heading to Slippery Rock for another PSAC showdown on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 3:30 p.m.
