Golden Rams on Fire From Beyond the Arc in 103-94 Win at Mansfield

MANSFIELD, Pa. - West Chester University made 13 three-point shots in 22 attempts in a 103-92 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference victory over host Mansfield Saturday afternoon inside Decker Gymnasium.
 
R.J. Griffin hit 6-8 from three point land, and 9-11 from the field, to pace the Golden Rams (4-1, 2-0 PSAC) with 28 points. Mansfield (1-4, 0-2 PSAC) was led by Joe Bell with 29.
 
Mansfield scored the first points of the game, but West Chester took the lead 30 seconds into the contest and never trailed again. The Golden Rams bolstered by two three's from Griffin and six points from Troy Hockaday, led 16-4 just two minutes into the contest.
 
The Mounties responded and reduced the lead to one at 28-27 with 12 and half minutes left in the half. West Chester held a 64-57 lead at the break. Griffin hit six three's and led the way with 24 points, Cory Blake added 10 of his 16 in the half.
 
The second half began with Mansfield on a 7-1 run and the lead was down to one. The Mounties shaved the lead was to one several times in the second half, but were never able to tie or take the lead.
 
Hockaday drained a three with the score at 74-73, and the game would get no closer, he finished with 19 for the game. Eddie Mitchell scored 15 points, making all 11 of his free-throws, and dished out a team high seven assists.
 
Matt Wisely pulled down 11 boards and Rasheed Wilkins chipped in with 10 points.
 
The Golden Rams host Bowie State inside Hollinger Field House on Tuesday night with the tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
