Women's Basketball Runs Past Mansfield 84-75

MANSFIELD, Pa.- Brtianny Sicinski scored 20 points and Dallas Ely added 18 to lead West Chester to a 84-75 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference victory over host Mansfield at Decker Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.
 
West Chester (3-2, 2-0 PSAC) trailed 40-30 with 3:21 to play in the first half, before going on a 14-0 run to take 44-40 lead at the break. The Mounties (0-4, 0-2 PSAC) were led by Katie Fitzpatrick, who had 15 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists.
 
Ely started the West Chester surge with a three pointer, Sicinski then grabbed a rebound and scored on a layup, Jasmen Clark nailed a three to make it a two point game, and Sicinski tied the game with a jumper. Ely gave the Golden Rams their first lead of the game with a pair of free-throws with 1:01 remaining in the half, she then finished the scoring with a jumper 30 seconds later and West Chester never trailed again.
 
West Chester extend the lead to as much as 56-47 on a pair of free throws by Anna Kuntz four minutes into the second half before Mansfield used a an 8-0 run to close to 56-55 the Golden Rams were held scoreless for five minutes until Sicinski knocked down a three to end the drought and push the lead to four.
 
West Chester held a 72-68 advantage with just over three minutes remaining Ely and Sicinski connected on 9-of-11 free throws over the final 2:20 for the win.
 
Anna Kuntz recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
 
The Mounties held a 28-12 rebounding edge on the offensive glass, but the Golden Rams committed only 13 turnovers while causing 21 and made 25 free-throws compared to only 15 for Mansfield.
 
West Chester is at Holy Family University on Tuesday at 6 p.m. for a non- conference battle.
