MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Millersville's Brandon Brown made a layup with two seconds left to lift the host Marauders to an 86-85 victory over visiting West Chester in a PSAC men's basketball contest at Pucillo Gym Wednesday evening.

West Chester (5-2, 2-1 PSAC East) saw its five-game winning streak come to a close while Millersville (2-3, 1-1) picked up its first conference win of the season.

The Marauders' Brown (10 points) knocked down one of two free throws with 46 seconds left to bring the hosts to within one at 85-84. West Chester misfired on a 3-point attempt with 20 seconds to go, Millersville hauled in the rebound, and Brown converted the layup at the other end with two ticks left to give the Marauders a one-point lead.

West Chester had one last shot at the buzzer, but the attempt did not go, and Millersville got out of Pucillo Gym with the victory.

Troy Hockaday had a team-best 22 points while
Eddie Mitchell poured in 18 for the Golden Rams.
Cory Blake added 15 points while
Ben Mingledough added 11.

The back-and-forth contest came right down to the wire. West Chester, which led by as much as only eight points at any one time during the contest, went on an 8-0 run with over three minutes left in the game to erase a three-point deficit and take a 75-70 lead.

Millersville, which only led by as much as three in the game, made a run at West Chester on a 3-pointer from Nate Bollinger and a foul shot to boot. That tied things up at 79 apiece. Mitchell made a layup, but the Marauders' Tyree Smith hit a jumper to even things up again, 81-81. Matt Wisely grabbed an offensive rebound and put it back up and in for an 83-81 lead for the Rams.

Following a Millersville timeout, Xavier Mumford knocked down two free throws to tie the game again. This time, West Chester called timeout, and Mingledough nailed a pair of free throws to give the Rams another two-point lead, 85-83. That is when Brown closed out the contest with three points for the Marauders.

West Chester travels to Kutztown Saturday afternoon for another PSAC contest against the Golden Bears. Tip time is set for 3 p.m.
