WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Brittany Sicinski scored 12 points and Alexandra Lennon scored 11 points, but visiting Shippensburg held on for a 78-68 victory over host West Chester in a PSAC East women's basketball contest inside Hollinger Field House Wednesday evening.
West Chester (13-11, 10-10 PSAC) dropped its fourth straight contest in its final home game of the 2012-13 campaign while Shippensburg (18-7, 14-6) has now won nine of its last 10.
The largest lead of the game was the final 10-point margin of victory. Both sides battled in a tightly contested tilt all night long. Lennon finished the night with two blocked shots, giving her 290 for her career, and moving her into the Top 20 all-time in NCAA history. She is tied for 20th with Megan Bauer from Holy Family (2004-07).
West Chester held Shippensburg to 34.7 percent shooting from the field (17 of 49) while shooting 36.2 percent (25 of 69) themselves. The difference was at the foul line where the Raiders sank 41 of 50 free throws, shooting 82 percent. The Raiders also outrebounded the Rams by a 50-35 margin. West Chester stayed in the game with its 3-point prowess, hitting 9 of 24 attempts from beyond the arc.
West Chester travels to East Stroudsburg on Saturday for another PSAC East showdown at 1 p.m. inside Koehler Fieldhouse.
