West Chester Men Top Shippensburg, 81-65

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Cory Blake scored 20 points and R.J. Griffin added 17 as visiting West Chester defeated host Shippensburg, 81-65, inside Heigis Field House in a PSAC East men's basketball contest Wednesday evening.

West Chester (12-5, 5-1 PSAC East) moved into a tie for second place with Bloomsburg as a result of the win over Shippensburg (2-13, 0-5). The Golden Rams and Huskies will meet on Saturday afternoon in Hollinger Field House for the right to take sole possession of second. West Chester upped its winning streak to six straight with the victory.

West Chester, which built a second-half advantage that reached 21 at one point, led the entire game. Griffin knocked down all five of his 3-point attempts in the first half as the Golden Rams raced out to a big lead on the strength of 9-for-14 shooting from beyond the arc.

The Rams put four players in double figures and shot 42.9 percent from the floor (30-for-70). Ben Mingledough had 13 points off the bench for WCU while Troy Hockaday added 10. Mingledough was one rebound shy of a double-double. Matt Wisely contributed eight rebounds off the bench as well.

West Chester returns home to Hollinger Field House Saturday afternoon for a 3 p.m. tipoff with PSAC East rival Bloomsburg. With the Huskies loss to East Stroudsburg Wednesday, both WCU and Bloomsburg enter Saturday's showdown with an identical league record of 5-1.
