CLARION, Pa. – Jr., F
Kendall Benovy scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, but it was not enough for visiting West Chester to overcome host Clarion, 82-73, in a non-conference women's basketball game inside Tippin Gym Wednesday night.
West Chester (9-5) dropped its second straight contest and finishes 3-3 against the PSAC West while Clarion (6-6) won its fourth game in its last five outings to even its record on the year.
Benovy notched her second straight double-double and third of the season. She was one of four Golden Rams in double figures in scoring.
Serifat Junaid posted a season-best 13 points while
Chikisha Steele-Hook tied her career high with 14 points off the bench. Steele-Hook added 10 rebounds to her stat line, marking her second double-double of the year. She put up 14 points and grabbed 11 caroms against Shepherd earlier this season as well.

Reigning PSAC East athlete of the week,
Dallas Ely scored just six points as she struggled from the field, going 3-for-20 overall, including 0-for-10 from beyond the 3-point arc. She did grab nine rebounds, dish out six assists and was credited with five steals. She just did not have the shooting touch Wednesday.
Clarion shot 69 percent from the field in the second half, going 20-for-29, and put up 55 points. West Chester made just 9 of 35 baskets, shooting 25.7 percent, in the first half. The Rams still managed to hold a one-point lead at the break (28-27), but it was not enough to hold off the Golden Eagles' hot shooting in the final 20 minutes.
Clarion's Kelly Johnson matched Benovy's game-high of 23 points while Emma Fickel added 22. Hannah Heeter scored nine points and grabbed a game-best 15 rebounds.
West Chester returns home Saturday to face the newest member of the PSAC Eastern Division, Lock Haven, for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
