West Chester drops to Clarion, 3-1

CLARION, Pa. -  Annalee Halbert (Port Murray, N.J. / West Morris Central) registered her fourth double-double of the season with 37 assists and 10 digs, but it still was not enough as the West Chester Golden Rams lost a tough match to the hometown Clarion Golden Eagles by a score of 3-1.

West Chester (12-9, 4-8 PSAC East) started out fast by taking the first set 25-21, but the momentum did not carry over as they would drop the next three sets to Clarion(19-2, 11-1 PSAC West)  by scores of 25-16, 25-18, and 25-14.

The Golden Rams began the match hitting with at an outstanding percentage of .438, while Clarion (19-2, 11-1 PSAC West) struggled early ending the first set at .278. Then it all shifted as the Golden Eagles remained consistent finishing the match hitting for .274 and the Golden Rams significantly dropping to .158.

Julia O' Brien (New Holland, Pa. / Garden Spot) led the team with 12 kills, while teammates Karliegh Lutz (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) and Marina Sharkey (Newtown Square, Pa. / Archbishop John Carroll) each provided eight kills in the losing effort. 

Bethany Gould (Camp Hill, Pa. / Cumberland Valley), Macon Frey (Chesapeake, Va. / Great Bridge), and Lyndsey Iacobelli (Breinigsville, Pa. / Parkland) dashed out 13, 10, and 20 digs respectively in the lost.

The Golden Rams will look to bound back later today against Seton Hill University (Pa) at 3:30pm to conclude their four-game PSAC West trip.
