West Chester Men defeat Millersville in 2-0 shutout

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The West Chester men's soccer team shut out Millersville, 2-0, behind a pair of goals from senior Tommy Ryan at Rockwell Field on Saturday afternoon.

West Chester (7-5-0, 5-2-0 PSAC) outdid the Mauarders, putting 14 shots to their seven on goal. Millersville (4-9-1, 3-4-0 PSAC) had more corner kicks (7-5), but were not able to capitalize.

Senior Tommy Ryan (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) scored both goals for the Golden Rams, giving him four on the season. His first goal was unassisted as he went left to right toward the goal, stopped, and launched a shot into the right corner of the net to give the Rams a 1-0 advantage heading into the break.

Then in the second half with 6:37 minutes to go, forward Miguel Ross (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) raced down the left sideline, faked out a defender, and was able to keep his balance finding Ryan on the right side for his second goal of the game.

Goalkeeper Matt Palmer (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) recorded his fourth shutout of the season and improved his personal record to 6-3.

Millersville's goalkeeper, Kohl Orner, played the whole game in goal and made two saves.

The Golden Rams will now wait for the arrival of Pitt-Johnstown on Wednesday at 1 p.m. for its next contest.
