Cory Blake (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) scored 15 points, but it was host West Chester's defense that pressured visiting Millersville all evening in the Golden Rams' 78-49 victory over the Marauders in a PSAC East contest inside Hollinger Field House Wednesday.
West Chester (2-1, 1-0 PSAC East) harassed Millersville (1-2, 0-1) into a 32.7 percent shooting from the floor, holding the Marauders under 30 points in each half en route to the win in the conference opener for both schools. Millersville made just 8 of 30 field goal attempts after halftime.
Blake added seven rebounds to his point total while center
Eric Frans (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) put up 14 points and eight boards in the win. In contrast to Millersville's 26.7 percent shooting in the final 20 minutes, West Chester was 20-for-38 – a 52.6 percent clip – with its shooting in the second half.
Only three players scored in double figures for West Chester.
Avery Brown (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) added 13 points for the Golden Rams. However, nine different players penciled in their name into the scorebook Wednesday.
West Chester continues its brief homestand on Saturday with another PSAC East contest against Kutztown inside Hollinger Field House at 3 p.m.
NOTES: West Chester senior forward, Cory Blake, was honored before the game with a commemorative game ball recognizing his 1,000th career point scored in last season's final game against Indiana, Pa. in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
