Men's Basketball Falls On The Road At Shippensburg, 74-68

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. –  Avery Brown (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape) registered a season-high 22 points to go with seven rebounds and a steal while Corey Blake (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, three steals, and two assists, but host Shippensburg held on for a 74-68 victory over West Chester Saturday afternoon inside Heiges Field House.

West Chester (3-5, 2-2 PSAC) led throughout the first half and into the second, but could not hang on against the Shippensburg Red Raiders (5-2, 1-2).

The Red Raiders took the lead with a 10-4 run early in the second half. Then, Red Raiders' guard Jay Hardy drained a 3-pointer to increase their lead and earn the team's first conference win of the season.

West Chester's Blake had eight points and two steals in the final five minutes in a final comeback bid attempt, but the Rams' would fall short, cutting the lead to only three.

Hardy led the Red Raiders with 21 points, shooting 46.6 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range.  Abe Massaley and Dylan Edgar combined for 12 rebounds, and added 13 points and 12 points, respectively, in the winning effort.

West Chester University will try to get back into the win column against Mercyhurst on Dec. 16th at 8 p.m. in the third game of their four-game road.
