SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Majesta Valentine won the vault, and Meghan Brannon won the uneven bars, to lead West Chester University's women's gymnastics squad to a 187.575-186.525 victory over host Springfield College in a non-league meet Friday evening.
Valentine scored a 9.75 on the vault, outdoing teammate Selena Swanger, who scored a 9.6, to pace the Golden Rams. Brannon posted a 9.675 on the uneven bars while Emily Seigel placed third with a 9.6. Valentine placed fifth with a 9.35.
Valentine scored a 37.45 in the all-around. She registered a 9.2 on the balance beam and a 9.15 on the floor exercise.
Kristen Torres tied for second on the floor exercise with a score of 9.55. Alyssa Hult was fourth with a 9.525, and Emily Harrison was fifth with a 9.475.
Cecilia Lorenzen led West Chester's effort on the beam, placing third with a 9.45 while Melissa Prisco was fourth with a 9.375, and Valentine fifth.
West Chester travels to Providence, R.I. for a tri-meet with Brown University and ECAC rival University of Bridgeport on Sunday, March 9.
