Jasmen Clark Paces West Chester in a 81-65 Victory Over Kutztown

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Sophomore Jasmen Clark hit 5of 8 on three-point shots, en route to a season high 17 points, to lead a balanced attack, in host West Chester University's 81-65 PSAC East victory in women's basketball action Saturday afternoon inside Hollinger Field House.

The Golden Rams (16-6, 11-1 PSAC East) clinched a PSAC East playoff spot with the victory, by showing depth and patience, West Chester stays a game in front of Bloomsburg (19-3, 10-2 PSAC East) who also are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. The two teams meet on Feb. 19 at Bloomsburg, in a contest that could decide the top spot in the east.

Kutztown (7-14, 4-7 PSAC East) harassed the PSAC's leading scorer Dallas Ely, by playing a box and one on defense, and dared the other Golden Rams players to beat them. The strategy was effective in the first half, and Kutztown held a 32-29 lead with 3:42 left in the first half,  but West Chester finished the half with an 8-0 run to take a 37-32 lead into the break.

All 16 players who appeared in the first half scored, Sicinski led the West Chester with seven, while Advia Campbell, who finished with a team high 15, and Nicole Donahue each tallied six to pace Kutztown.

Clark hit a three to start the second half to give West Chester its biggest lead of the contest at 40-32, then she hit back to back three's from the corner after Kutztown had trimmed the lead to three with 11 minutes on the clock.

The Golden Bears scored to make it 60-55 with under nine to play, before West Chester took control of the game with a 16-6 run to forge a 76-61 advantage with 2:25 remaining. Anna Kuntz, who finished with 14 points and eight rebounds, and Sicinski (14 and 8) scored six points each in the decisive flurry.

Serifat Junaid came off the bench to score 12, as did Emily Torrance, who added eight points and six rebounds. Ely finished with eight and led the Golden Rams with 11 rebounds and Clark dished out a game high six assists, and picked up six steals.

West Chester travels to Lock Haven on Wednesday for another key PSAC East contest, beginning at 5:30 PM, before returning home for the Play4Kay game on Saturday when Shippensburg visits Hollinger Field House, for the final home contest of the regular season.
