ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – West Chester University men's tennis squad ended its spring break trip to Florida with a 9-0 non-league defeat at Eckerd College at the Dick Bullard Courts Thursday afternoon.
Jared Howatt put up a fight in first singles, taking the opening set to a tie break, before falling 8-6 in the breaker and dropping the match 7-6 (8-6), 6-0.
The Golden Rams (3-5) also received a strong performance from J.J. Cooke, who fell 8-5 in singles. Eckerd improved to 5-9 on the season with its third straight victory.
West Chester is at Philadelphia University on Wednesday for non-league contest with the Rams starting at 3:30 p.m.
