BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Host Bloomsburg swept a PSAC East baseball doubleheader from visiting West Chester University Thursday afternoon. The Huskies took the opener, 10-2, before winning the nightcap, 5-1.

West Chester (10-6, 3-3 PSAC East) falls to .500 in the conference after the sweep by Bloomsburg (12-8, 5-1).

Bloomsburg scored one in the first, three in the second, two in the fourth and four more in the fifth en route to the victory. The Huskies had opened up a 6-0 lead by the time Rob Spekhardt scored on a throwing error in the fifth. Justin Roman then hit his first career home run in the sixth for West Chester's only other tally.

Matt McAllister (1-2) lasted just two innings in his start. He allowed four runs, three of them earned, on five hits while walking one and striking out two. Jeff O'Reilly came on and threw 2.1 innings of relief. He surrendered six runs on five hits. However, only two of the Huskies' six runs against O'Reilly were earned. He walked two and struck out one. Ryan Swearingen finished up, throwing 1.2 innings of scoreless ball. He allowed one hit and struck out one.

Freshman catcher, Bill Ford, was 2-for-2 at the plate. Five other Golden Rams each collected one hit.

In the nightcap, Bloomsburg's four-run third inning opened up a 5-0 lead and the host Huskies never looked back. Freshman Robert Knox singled home Luke Mogle in the fourth for West Chester's lone tally.

Fred Breidenbach (1-3) went the distance in the loss for West Chester. He allowed three earned runs on five hits in six innings of work. He walked one and struck out three.

West Chester is scheduled to finish the doubleheader with Bloomsburg at home on Saturday at Serpico Stadium. First pitch is at 1 p.m.
