West Chester Tops Philadelphia University, 15-6

Box Score

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Mike Raimo knocked in four runs, Robert Knox hit a two-run homer and Rob Spekhardt knocked in three more to lead West Chester to a 15-6 victory over host Philadephia University in a non-league baseball game Thursday at Alumni Field.

West Chester (20-12) scored three runs in the fifth, four in the sixth and five more in the seventh to erase a 5-3 deficit against PhilaU (12-18). The Golden Rams have now won six of their last seven games and seem to be playing some of their best baseball of the season right now.

All nine hitters in the starting lineup registered a hit. Spekhardt finished 3-for-4 in the game. Knox finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored, to go along with his three RBI. Raimo was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Justin Roman went 1-for-5 with a pair of RBI.

Jeff O'Reilly (1-0) recorded his first career win in relief. He yielded four runs on six hits over five innings, relieving starter John Barr, who had another spectacular outing in as many starts. Barr threw the first three innings and surrendered just one earned run on five hits. He walked one and struck out four. O'Reilly finished with three walks and three strikeouts. Ron Scull came on and pitched a perfect ninth, striking out one batter.

West Chester returns home Friday afternoon for a doubleheader with Shippensburg beginning at 1 p.m.
