WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University's women's tennis squad suffered a 5-0 setback to 12th-ranked California, Pa., in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference semifinals Thursday afternoon on South Campus.
West Chester (10-10) dropped all three doubles competitions, before falling at fourth and sixth singles to the top-ranked team in the Atlantic Region.
Abriana Nolan fell, 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles to Cal's Veronika Mikulis while Jami Dumler dropped a 6-1, 6-2 match at sixth singles to Jesse Burrell. The Vulcans swept the doubles competition by scores of 8-3, 8-1, 8-0, respectively.
Cal advances to the PSAC Championship Match Friday afternoon at 12 p.m. to take on the winner of Indiana, Pa. vs. Bloomsburg, which is also going on at West Chester University's South Campus Courts. Cal will be aiming for its eighth straight PSAC women's tennis championship on Friday.
