West Chester Women Close Season With 8-1 Win Over Eastern On Senior Day

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester University swept the doubles competition and then took five of six singles matches to cruise to an 8-1 win over Division III foe Eastern University on Senior Day on South Campus in the season finale for the Golden Rams Thursday.
 
West Chester (10-11) honored lone senior Haley Wissinger before the win over Eastern (9-6).
 
Wissinger was a 7-5, 6-1 winner at fifth singles in her final college match. That was one of West Chester's five singles wins. Maddy Shaak was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at first singles, Cassidy Branigan a 6-3, 6-3 winner at third singles, Abriana Nolan a 6-3, 6-0 winner at fourth singles and Jami Dumler a 6-3, 6-2 winner at sixth singles.
 
Shaak and Nicole Fahringer teamed up at first doubles for an 8-5 win while Nolan and Amalia Hartman were 8-2 winners at second doubles and Branigan and Stephanie Cifarelli were 8-1 winners at third doubles.
 
Wissinger has been part of a great transformation within the women's tennis program during her four-year career. The Golden Rams reached 50 wins overall during her college career, authoring an overall record of 50-39 while going 18-6 against PSAC competition and qualifying for the postseason tournament in three of Wissinger's four years. The Golden Rams reached the semifinals of the conference tournament twice as well.
 
Wissinger put together a career record of 31-18 in her college career, including a 24-11 mark at fifth singles where she resided for the majority of her career.
