COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Majesta Valentine won the uneven bars and tied for first on the vault with two others while finishing runner-up on the balance beam and floor exercise, but it was not enough for visiting West Chester as the Golden Rams fell to host Ursinus, 188.1-187.55, in a season-opening dual meet Wednesday afternoon.
Â
Valentine posted a 38.45 all-around in the first meet of the 2015 campaign. The USAG All-American picked up right where she left off following a stellar freshman season last winter. She scored a 9.55 on the bars to win that event outright while her 9.65 on the vault equaled a pair from Ursinus and served as the No. 1 score on that apparatus. Her 9.525 on the beam was just 0.1 behind the winner, and her 9.725 on the floor exercise was also second best.
Â
Selena Swanger placed fourth on the bars behind Valentine. She scored a 9.35 in that event and registered a 37.250 all-around.
Â
Rachel Blair was fourth on the vault in her West Chester debut. She scored a 9.575. Meghan Chan scored a 9.15 to place fourth on the balance beam in her debut as well.
Â
Lindsey Knapp and Meghan Brannon each tied for fifth on the bars with a 9.175. Knapp also placed fifth in the floor exercise.

West Chester continues its season-opening road swing on Saturday in Upstate New York with a dual meet against SUNY-Cortland.
