West Chester Downs Mansfield, 93-81

MANSFIELD, Pa. – Jr., G Avery Brown (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape) scored a team-high 18 points, shooting 85 percent from the field, to lift West Chester University over Mansfield, 93-81, in a PSAC men's basketball contest inside Marion Decker Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.
 
The Golden Rams (9-11, 7-7 PSAC) overall finished with five players in double figures for the game. They started out on a 5-0 run. But, the Mountaineers (7-11, 5-9 PSAC) would come back with a 9-3 run to take the lead (14-11), after a dunk by Joe Bell.
 
West Chester then went on 10-2 spurt to take a 10-point lead. Both teams exchanged buckets down the stretch with the Golden Rams taking a 48-40 lead at halftime, after shooting 60-percent from the field in the first half.
 
Matt Wiseley (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds, to go along with two dunks, and grab the momentum from the homestanding Mounties. Cory Blake (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) was held to only four points in the first half, but came out aggressive in the second half, scoring 10 of his 14 points to help the Golden Rams pull away.
 
Mike Wilson (Philadelphia, Pa./Martin Luther King) provided 13 points, 11 in the first half, including three baskets from long distance. Raheem Hall (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) put up 12 points and grabbed six rebounds in the conference win.
 
Mansfields' Bell scored a game-high 24. Thomas Moore followed with 17 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals in the losing effort. Charles Pemberton added 12 points.
 
The Golden Rams will go on to face Millersville as a part of their four-game road trip on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
